  • Bienvenidos a la clase de español 101A. I strongly encourage you to explore the links our Spanish 101A homepage as you will rely on the information provided to help you through the semester. You can always find what material we will be covering, what work is due, what projects or field trips are upcoming and lots of resources for practice and review.

    • There is an increased demand for Spanish 101A courses. As a result, students who do not attend the first class, second class or third class or who are absent two or more consecutive days during the first month of class, or who miss 6 classes throughout the semester, will be dropped.
    • Students not keeping up with work, failing early on, or who are taking the class only to carry a full course load for insurance purposes will be dropped.
    • Native/ heritage Spanish-speakers who enroll will be dropped (see note below).

    • NOTE: The Spanish 101A & B classes are for students with no or very little Spanish experience. It is similar to a basic ESL class and focuses on listening/speaking activities.
Native Spanish-speakers or Heritage Spanish-speakers may not enroll in the in-person class sections of these courses: They can enroll in the Online Sections, but are recommended to enroll in the Spanish 102A and 102B courses.

    • Please note that repeated late arrivals will add up to absences. See the course outline for more details on the attendance policy.

    • Please note that due dates in the online lab & workbook assignments are terminal end dates -in other words, expiration dates- for accessing these activities. They do NOT indicate the date that you should begin these exercises! Pace yourself accordingly.

    • REMINDER: You will not pass this class if you have not successfully completed the one hour per week laboratory requirement as specified for this course as assigned. This is a transfer agreement requirement outlined by the UC/CSU systems which is currently under audit by Sacramento. NO LATE WORK will be accepted. Students taking this course for transfer credit who fail to complete and/or attend the lab assignments and activities on the assigned dates will be dropped or will earn a D or an F once the Drop date has passed.
